Planning a Viral Campaign: How Batkid Took Over Twitter

by Steve Broback on March 2, 2014

#ChevyTweethouse Session at #SXSW – Saturday March 8, 2014 2:00pm, RSVP here.

When you think about the top social media campaigns of 2013, no list would be complete without the inclusion of the phenomenal “#SFBatkid” (#Batkid) social media program that award-winning social media agency Clever Girls Collective executed on behalf of their pro bono client Greater Bay Area Make-a-Wish Foundation.

With over 600,000 individual Tweets, 25 million Instagram impressions, and nearly 2 billion social impressions, #SFBatkid was one of the most successful Twitter campaigns of all time. The program garnered accolades from Twitter who cited #SFBatkid as one of the six “most tweeted” hashtags of 2013. The program was also honored by Time Magazine as one of the “Most Heartwarming Stories of 2013,” and included as the closing video clip in Google’s “Zeitgeist 2103” commercial.

In our Tweet House session, Clever Girls founders Stefania Pomponi, Kristy Sammis, and Cat Lincoln will reveal the philosophy, strategy, and tactics behind one of the greatest awareness-building social executions of the year.
